Hola guys!!
The other day I was just having a conversation with a colleague on the smoky eyes look. She told me she loves all makeup tutorials but she landed up doing something really weird as she missed certain small but important steps.
Hence we decided to share a few steps that we thought shouldnāt be missed. This is the first time, weāre blogging about make up application, so hope it helps!
Makeup can get very tricky. For our red maxi post, we were looking for something cute but fierce at the same time, so we decided to take help from Kritikaās mother.
Here are a few tips and tricks for this gorgeous look š
Ā
Itās important to do the eye make up first, before using a concealer and foundation. This helps cover the uneven patches.
In order to prevent a fall out, you can tap colorless loose powder under your eyes and gently swipe the powder off after youāve completed your look. You can also grab a tape or use an eye shadow mascara shield under your eye. This is a thing that we generally miss but is extremely essential for the messy ones like me. š
So Kritika had already messed up the look several times and was later having a hard time keeping her eyes shut! Therefore, it is very necessary to stay patient and know that the easiest way to apply an eye shadow is to tilt your head up and look down straight into the mirror.
Donāt be afraid to define your eye shadow shape using a pencil, this is the mistake we made. You can later blend the shades and make the edges disappear.
Also if you want your make up to stand out, two important things must be kept in mind ā
- Use an eye shadow primer or moisturizer under your eyes and over the lids to prevent your make up from falling off as the day goes on.
- Apply a white liner along the upper eyelash to make your eye shadow colors look serious.
Whenever Iām trying to doing the smoky eyes look, I look at the eye shadow kit in front of me and just land up staring and wondering which permutation and combination should I go ahead with. The most common way to go about is to use a lighter color on the lid area and a deeper color on the crease area. You can use a large eye shadow brush for the former and a crease defining brush for the latter.
Then blend the dark shade from your lashes to your crease in a soft circular motion using a small angled brush, Q tip or smudge brush. Avoid blending the eye shadow all the way to the inner corner of your eye unless you have really wide eyes.
As suggested by make up artist ā Bobbi Brown, use a concealer before applying foundation because you wonāt use as much foundation if you conceal problem spots first.
Even while doing the above, the primer, moisturizer and powder rule applies.
- Choose a concealer/foundation that best matches your skin tone.
- Examine your skin under neutral white light or natural daylight.
- Choose wisely between a water based, cream based or powder based concealer/foundation depending on your skin type. The cream to powder based oneās usually get cakey after a few hours.
- Finish the look well, using an illuminating foundation or a matte foundation in case of oily skin.
- Apply a color correcting concealer if required.
Dab the liquid on your face from inside to out in an upward motion using a brush, sponge or your fingers. Remember always use the upward motion.
Coming to the lips, we mixed two shades of red. This was Nehaās idea. (Itās shocking, but sometimes she can be smart too). Mixing the shades is always fun and exciting. Do try it!
In case you want to remove the excess oil off your lips, blot your lipstick using a tissue paper, reapply and then blot again.
If you are of a habit of eating your lipstick up just like I do, (Not because youāre hungry, but, just out of habit) and you donāt want to reapply it again and again, then just apply the shade of your choice, take a tissue paper, hold it over your lips and with a brush just dab some powder over it. It should work.
You can also use a touch of powder, concealer or foundation at the center of your upper lip and blend it well before applying your lip shade. Another option is to fill the entire upper lip using a neutral pencil and then applying your lipstick.
So here you go with some crazy tips and tricks in your pocket. Do share your views with us!
